Michael Turner
My name is Michael Turner, but most folks just call me Turner, my mother calls me Michael, but no one calls me Mike. I was born and raised in Morehead City and work and reside there still today. I am a 1996 graduate of West Carteret HS and a 2000 graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I began my teaching career at East Carteret HS in 2000, and coached volleyball, football, and baseball there. I became the Head Volleyball Coach in 2003 and Head Baseball Coach in 2004 and served those roles until 2007 when I moved to West Carteret. I am currently in year 25 of coaching high school volleyball, the last 18 as the Head Coach at West Carteret HS. I "retired" coaching baseball after being named Athletic Director in 2019 and a role I currently serve.
I love coaching. I love volleyball. I love growing not only the sport of volleyball, but more importantly the young people who play it. I am excited about the opportunity to join Carolina Vibe. I am excited about new kids to coach. I am excited about what I can learn from this collection of talented coaches.
I am married to my wife of almost 22 years, Jaime, and I am the proud parent of our ECU sophomore son Brayden, and our 7th grader at MCMS Jayne Bailey. In the free time I have I often enjoy sitting still, playing golf, and boating. Since 2017 I have served on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Seafood Festival.
